STROBIST CASE HISTORY: ![]() Photo: Ben Zvan Photography |

CHOOSING BACKGROUND COLORS Ben Zvan on how he did it: "I have a very open shooting style. I always have a clear idea of what I want and how to accomplish it, but I'm also open to ideas I might have along the way. In this case, I wanted to create a shot that featured Nepali orange peppers on a boldly colored gradient background. But I didn't know what color would work best for the gradient. The Strobist Collection Gel Kit made trying different colors easy for me: once I had the lights set up, I selected a few colors from my Strobist gel kit to see what worked best. Insert gel (click), change gel (click), change gel (click), stack two gels (click). In the end, I let the client choose from a multitude of background colors and this triptych won out." ![]() Photo: Ben Zvan Photography
